Apple Crumble Protein Oats

Apple Crumble Protein Oats

Oats:

-    ½ cup quick oats

-    ½ tsp cinnamon

-    ¼ tsp nutmeg

-    ½ green apple grated

-    1 scoop vanilla protein

-    3/4 – 1 cup milk (or alternative milk)

Crumble:

-    ½ cup oats

-    ¼ cup flaked almonds

-    1 tbsp brown sugar

-    Knob of butter

Stewed Apple

-    2 green apples peeled & diced

-    2 tbsp brown sugar

-    1 cinnamon stick 

-    1 cup water



Method

1.    For the oats, mix all dry ingredients and apple in a saucepan and set aside

2.    For the crumble add all ingredients to a dry pan over medium heat and toss regularly until oats and almonds are golden brown and the sugar has caramelised, set aside to cool on a plate

3.    For the stewed apples, add everything to a saucepan and simmer until the apples are soft   

4.    Add the milk to your saucepan of oats and cook over medium heat unit creamy and thick

5.    Transfer oats to a bowl, add the stewed apples and top with the crumble

Overnight Apple Crumble Oats 

Overnight Apple oats

Oats:

-    2 cups oats

-    1 tbsp chia seeds

-    ½ tsp cinnamon

-    ¼ tsp nutmeg

-    1 green apple grated

-    2 scoop vanilla protein

-    1 ½  cup milk (or alternative milk)

-    2 Tbsp Vanilla Yoghurt (high protein)

Apple Jam

-    6 green apples peeled, cored and roughly diced

-    Lemon zest and lemon juice to taste

-    Cinnamon stick 

-    ½ - 1 cup of caster sugar (depending on apple size/how sweet you like it)

Method

1.    For the jam, combine apples and sugar with 1 to 1 ½ cups of water and simmer over medium heat until the apples start to break down

2.    Once the apples break down add the cinnamon stick and lemon zest/juice and cook until the apples have completely broken down and excess liquid has cooked out leaving the mixture a thick spreadable consistency.

3.    Mix all ingredients together and let sit for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

4.    Layer stewed apples or apple jam and crumble on top when going to serve

*Can use store-bought granola in place of home-made crumble
